Incision Options for Enlargement

Once you’ve selected your breast implants, you and Dr. Krieger will determine the best incision location for your surgery. The type of implant chosen may influence which incision method is recommended. There are three primary incision options for the breast augmentation procedure:

• Transaxillary: Placed in the crease of the armpit, this incision leaves no scars on the breast. It is typically used for saline implants, which can be filled after placement.
• Periareolar: This incision follows the outer edge of the areola, making scarring less noticeable. However, due to its proximity to nerves and milk ducts, it may not be ideal for women concerned about changes in nipple sensation or breastfeeding.
